Family Tree of Alistair Graham
for my Grand Daughters Princess Leila and Princess Alyra
Last update Oct 2012
Many people, if not all, are of course related. I guess we are all related in some way or another back to Africa. Proving the direct blood line is not easy for most as they are from what is called common families and those people never had as good documentation of the generations. Sometimes in family bibles that were passed on but often none recorded all the families and children. They were too busy working or scratching out survival. Records were often burnt or lost. Basically they did not have a fortune to pass on so it was not important as to who were the children or where they went in the world.
Some ancestors of interest include Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Charles 'The Hammer' Martel, Kings and queens of France, Alfred King of England, and a few saints like Saint Begga and Saint Arnulf. A whole lot of work and research but extremely gratifying to finally establish proof of blood lines to all these dudes. In particular it is nice to have portraits of some of these notables. For most of my other family tree photographs cease before about 1900 and Portraits are rare indeed for us common folk. Some examples of our early portraits are set out below include many forms : Marble and stone sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, paintings, book plates, Cathedral stained glass and even coins and a cameo brooch.

Sources and Audit : Audit of the tree has been undertaken checking each link to verify any gaps or errors. Most generations are about 25 years. The father at birth of a child should be between age 16 to 70 (unusual but not impossible) while the Mother ideally between 15 and 50. In auditing we search for dates outside of this that expose a gap. If a father is 100 at the birth of his child it is an obvious gap and break in the link and blood line. Simlarly if a parent gives birth to a child after death it is a little difficult and hence another flaw or error. All the links have been checked and generations are within acceptable limits - with no gaps or overlaps. Thus establishing a true unbroken blood line.
Notes to Relatives :
You are welcome to enjoy this page and the information. Please bare in mind this takes literally hours and hours of research over many years and considerable expense. At present I am researching The Graham Montrose side of the tree and to investigate further (overcoming blocks) we need to establish a small fund so we can commission a semi professional over in Ireland to link the tree back to Scotland clan. Many of us outlay fees to ancestry.com or myheritage.com in monthly fees. All accumulating the very same facts. It would be better if we all grouped in to one family tree database and allowed administrators within the family who understand changing and updating info when found and verification. That way we could put the other money into research for better results. Contact Alistair if you have suggestions or ideas. Always welcome.
Branch A of Tree ........................ GoTo Branch B
'm' denotes husband or wife married into blood line - tab inset - still our direct ancestors but the Branch A line continues back through the main blood line.
Other Branches will be added with reference denotation to show where they branch off into another blood line.
I have chosen to include only those that are in the direct blood line Father/Mother to Son/Daughter. Otherwise the tree would be over 1200 and too large to navigate. So I have omitted brothers, sisters, cousins etc. Also I have taken the main branch blood line which goes back 55 generations now. Where both parents have link to interesting ancestors I have treated those in a separate tree line with reference to the main branch. Titled Tree Branch A, B, C and so on.

Birth 1 Jun 1468 in Benningborough, Yorkshire, England | Death 1 Jun 1551 in Cheddington, Buckinghamshire, England | As Baroness Bryan was the half-sister of Elizabeth Boleyn, Countess of Wiltshire and the mother of the King's mistress Mary Boleyn and his second wife Anne Boleyn, fortunes improved for the Bryan family during the 1520s and early 1530s. But it was not only Thomas Bryan's nieces by marriage who attracted the King, but his daughter, Katherine of Aragon. | ||
